Our preference is for the photo to be taken digitally by you or someone you know. These tips will guide you in taking a quality photo without paying a professional sitting fee. If you are ever unsure of the quality of your photo please forward it to Sassy Baby, and we'll be happy to assist you. Feel free to browse all of our sample designs. They are great inspiration for great photographs!

Watch the photos as we design an announcement.

  1. Keep it simple.
When planning the photo dress the baby in monochromatic colors and use a monochromatic blanket or back drop. The simpler, the better. Naked babies or babies in diapers are always cute too!

  2. Use a high resolution.
Make sure your camera is set to a high resolution to obtain the best quality photo.

    Before After

  3. Natural light.
Place your baby by a window or even outside. Natural light is best and catches the best shadows and highlights of your baby. Avoid a flash at all costs.

    Before After

  4. Get in close.
The closer you are to the baby, the better. We can always crop your photo later, but focus on your baby's face. Try to fill the entire camera frame with his/her face.

  5. Take the photo in color.
Don't worry about taking it in black and white. We'll be happy to convert it to black and white or sepia at no extra cost to you.

    Before After

All of the above photos were used in designing the announcement below. The pictures are simple and not taken by a professional. A little cropping, editing and imagination can work wonders on your photographs!

Happy photographing!!!
